Gelbe Seiten Relaunch "Register your company"

The comprehensive Gelbe Seiten business directory offers users the opportunity to list companies free of charge and thus increase their reach. This process was redesigned and a responsive and user-friendly experience was created. In this project I was responsible for analysing the existing system, the concept and the design.

The challenge

The business directory lives from entries from a wide variety of companies throughout Germany. Up-to-date entries and information for companies are particularly important in times of Corona. Therefore, the creation and updating of entries should be improved and simplified. To achieve this, a process had to be created that allows information to be entered quickly and easily.

The solution

A meaningful user flow, user-friendly interactions, clear wording and transparency help users with different backgrounds to create a Yellow Pages entry. The service is available on devices with different screen sizes. Entries can be updated or created at any time and from anywhere. Clear communication and a well-designed process makes creating a listing an easy and enjoyable experience.

The user in the foreground

Data from various tracking systems such as Mouse Flow or Google Analytics was analysed and interpreted in advance. This data helped the team in particular to evaluate the problems of the current process and to define the needs of the users.
This customer journey map was used to compile the user's activities, touchpoints and goals at each step. This created a better understanding of what the user and the company want to achieve.

Just a few steps to the finished entry

The user flow has been reduced to the most important steps so that the user can create a finished company entry with little effort. In the previous process, there were countless exit points, duplications and ambiguous instructions.

A live preview makes entry clearer and easier

The editing screen required particular attention and needed to be adapted and optimised for the new process. The session replays (screen recordings of site visitors) have clearly shown where users have problems and how extensive entries can be. The information entered is visible to the user in a live preview, giving them a direct impression of what the end product will look like.
